Why Highland Spring?
Water is essential to life and what could be more natural than Spring Water, just as nature intended, untreated, pure and refreshing.
Research reveals:
- 42% of the UK population say that Scotland is the country which
produces the purest, freshest bottled water. (33% in July 2003)*
- 61% of UK consumers say that Highland Spring is the brand of water
they associate as being the most Scottish. (54% in October 2004)
*
- 79% of the population in Scotland say that Scotland is the country
which produces the purest, freshest bottled water. (76% in July

Many people now prefer bottled water versus tap water for a variety
of reasons. They may not like the taste, smell, or colour of tap water.
Others are worried about their health and see bottled water as more
natural, pure, and a healthier alternative to tap water. But not all
bottled waters have the same qualities.
Highland Spring..." Reassuringly Pure "
Highland Spring is low in minerals, salts and nitrates and is bottled
from a protected underground source where nothing is added or removed
and the product is untouched by human hand. Only carbon dioxide is
added to create Highland Spring Sparkling water.
In 2001, Highland Spring achieved organic status for its catchment area, granted by
the Soil Association.
- The Ochil Hills in Perthshire, Scotland is an area of outstanding
natural beauty
- Layers of red sandstone and basalt formed these ancient hills
around 400 million years ago and they provide a natural filter for
the fresh rainwater, which falls on the undulating heather clad
slopes
- The rainwater takes up to 15 years to reach the point deep below
the hills and from which Highland Spring derives its source
- On its way, the water passes through countless intricate cavities,
absorbing wholesome minerals.
- The Water is gently pumped to the surface from boreholes via stainless
steel pipelines 60m below ground
- The water comes from a protected natural underground source under
the Ochil Hills where no farming, agricultural spraying, building
or habitation is permitted within the 2000 acre catchment area
- The land has been kept free from pesticides and pollution for
over 20 years.
